Geology Walking Tour DATE CHANGE

FREE and open to the Public

What: Explore an ancient rift valley, one of two in Groton, where the earth’s tectonic plates once collided. The rift valley extends from Lantern Hill to Noank Peninsula, passing through Pequot Woods Park.

Led by Doug Schwartz, presenter at GOSA’s 2018 annual meeting, who highlighted unique geological features found in and around Groton

Where: Meet at the southern trailhead of Pequot Woods Park, located north of Rt 1 in Groton, opposite Sharon Drive

Parking: Fishtown Cemetery lot at the intersection of Rt 1 with Sharon Drive; overflow parking on Sharon Drive. There will be a short walk along Rt 1 to the trailhead on the north side of Rt 1. Look for GOSA event signs.
