First Day Hike: Candlewood Hill Wildlife Management Area
January 1 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
DESCRIPTION: Difficult, 2 1/2 miles, 2+ hours
See spectacular rock formations, ridges, ravines, quarries, a rare pitch pine preserve at near 300 ft elevation.
Trail conditions include uneven terrain, steep climbs, no maps or trail blazes.
PREPARATION: Dress warmly in layers, wear boots with good traction, (carry micro spikes weather dependent).
Bring water and snack.
Hiking poles recommended, a few available to borrow.
Plan to stay with group.
